August 26 16:51 Still learning and experimenting with database things, today me and the clever little Garfield webmaster put in that phpmyadmin thing. It looks a bit complicated but we got it to show my test and i found a way to sort the table list by numbers instead of id-number and such. And we set it to require secure web connection, password, and not a too obvious address. Anyway i hope to be able to plan a database for citizens this week and get it to work some way, it could be too much but i wont stop trying. August 19 17:36 I gave up on Microsofts Access, it took too long just to figure out how to connect it to my little testing MySQL database. And it cant create tables and all that anyway, just sort of 'link' to it for editing and viewing. So i remembered some word i read somewhere while learning new webthings, phpmyadmin is its name. The little i read so far it is php scripts to manage databases, and since i know they work well together i think that is the way to go. But first i read about security, and decided why not dive into SSL too. That is the often used secure way to do webthings in online shops and all that. I know it is in the server brainy me and the little webmaster just never bothered much with it. We decided to bother with it both to install a secure database administration and probably for happy world citnzenship logins and such. Nothing very secret around here but i think privacy is a nice thing, and it is possible someone is snooping on random internet bits flying around. I think we got it to work somewhat now, at least i have a tiny secret test page that completes as 256 bit encrypted. But to really use it in my homepage or so all pictures and that has to be read through SSL too or the page is only partly safe. Oh well one piece, then the next. I have also created my first tiny php database thingy and it appears to work. It sure isnt easy but i know with my clever mind that these things together, when learned well enough, can do a lot of things online. Back to google and finding useful information... August 18 23:11 Ooooo, it appears to work. I think we need to take a look at some Perl bothers too so old things dont suddenly stop working or become slow. And lets hope we dont break anything...  August 18 22:41 Oh my...  dont try this at home. Well maybe try it, but i would have rather avoided this. Anyway so we decided to upgrade the web server brainy from PHP4 to PHP5 wich is the newest, says it is more secure, faster, more functions and such. Ok so started with MySQL data server, somewhat easy to upgrade. But then suddenly PHP4 doesnt work with it. Well it does, but passwords are encrypted differently. Ok so instead of just doing half the things me and the little webmaster set out to upgrade the actual web server to the latest along with newest PHP. Then we get complaints some XMl2 something something inside there is needed. And now we get that and hope installing that is easy enough. And then we dont want any more obstacles in the way... computer things can be such a hassle sometimes. But it is good to learn things. August 18 15:52 A lot to learn but we are making progress and should have something to share this week. August 14 11:08 Me and little webmaster are slowly learning about new webthings that will be useful for the future. Well they are far from new things, just that we never bothered with them so far. The new things are PHP and MySQL wich is used for a lot here and there. The reason i feel like learning about those two things is databases. We dont want to have to struggle with Perl programming and creating our own databases when there are good tools for it already. I even installed Access so i should be able to create and edit things from here. So we hope to figure these new things out for some useful things soon. August 13 11:25 Me and Mr Bear decided to abandon the markets, at least for a while since it is more important to be smiling than gathering more coins. I will be busy with webthings this week and probably start creating the Happy World chat whatever program thingy come weekend. I really should finish some sewing too says Lady Bear, i agree i should spend more time creating pretty things to wear and such. Hope everyone is having a nice week. *hugs* August 09 16:13 There appears to be something wrong with the email form in my homepage again, no idea when it stopped sending emails. I hope me and the little webmaster can figure it out soon. August 09 12:02 I have to take care of real world duties this weekend, but hopefully it gets mostly done before next week so i can take better care of the happy world too. August 08 12:28 Anyway so today the Olympic games begin, me and Mr Bear will watch the opening ceremony things. They like the lucky number 8 there so it beging 8 minutes after 8 day 8 month 8 and well the years is two thousand and... eight. August 08 11:29 Sleepymonster sneaked in here again and didnt want to leave. Today i think he left, at least i am up since morning and trying to be creative. August 04 01:15 Appaarently my computer brains cant be underclocked so i let them use what they use for now. Maybe one of those new tiny portable computers can do the work i need done, they should use little power at least. August 04 00:14 Maybe some remember my computer corner was made silent long ago, the simplest way, using long cables so computers are outside my room in their own corner. That keeps all the cooling fan noise and such at a distance and behind a door. I still hear just a little humming if door is open but not much. Anyway today i decided to do something to computer brains, something the little computer-geek Garfield thought was odd until i explained. I downgraded the graphics cards. Yes instead of perhaps upgrading the nowadays old 6800gt gaming card that once was the second best available i put a really old GeForce MX440 or something like that in brainy two, and an old budget 5200 card in the main brainy. That was the card i got once i just needed a new and said give me a cheap regular one i dont need any great things. It wasnt good for games even when generation 5 was the newest. Anyway, i did it to remove fan noise from computer brain 1 since now no graphics cards has any fans. Silent. And i did it for another reason, i keep computer two on almost all the time since a while back. It is in fact gathering trading figures, saving data files, and keeping the trade order software open for when computer one is alive and doing business. So i thought i will just forget computer games, remove some of the little noise there is, and use less electricity. Electric cost for our little castle isnt a problem, but i do think all us power-using humans better start thinking about conserving energy. So i did one little bit at home today. I also am replacing light bulbs with low energy ones but that is another thing. I am actually snooping for some low performance computer brain(s) to replace what i used the past years. Just now, i will snoop a little about the opposite to what devoted computer gamers do. They overclock their things to get the most speed, often adding more noisy cooling. I will take another look at underclocking, reducing CPU speed to as little as it might be possible to do that to. I know laptop computers have that kind of thing built in, maybe new processors do too. Oh well... just a little babbleing about something i found worth doing an evening. Hope everyone had nice weekend. *hugs* August 02 19:23 Tested the newest of the little webcameras and it still works. No surprise it shouldnt be worn out as little as it has been used since i got it. I will just be going out for a nice long evening walk since weather is nice, then i come back and continue the many computer things that need to get done. ICQ chat wont be here until citizenships are here, and i may not even use ICQ since me and the little webmaster Garfield are combining our clever brains to create a Happy World program for chatting and possibly many other little things. One thing about computer corner, if i sit in one of those rather dull standard black office chairs i am rather occupied with things. If i sit on the funnier and nicer fluffy stool i am just doing nothing special, wich in future means i have time to chat or play a game or some such with my citizens. August 02 11:05 We struggled a bit with one annoying computer problem all morning, i think me and all hugfriends go have a big group hug for a while now. But we did solve the puzzle, and so while hugging there will be some thinking. Many times it is a good idea to think first and then act. Not always but often. August 01 18:50 I got company from the sleepymonster some days, but i think it left the castle now so i can be awake more. I dont really mind being in a sleepy mood but not much except sleeping dreaming and hugging gets done. Anyway there is one quest goal i need to get done this weekend, i will remain a little secret about what it is but be sure it is something possibly vital to a Happy World forever and ever. It is also important i get homepage and webthings here done too so i will try my bestest. And when i try my bestest usually things will get done. Mr Bear smiled today he got some tax coins to count, for now we save them all in the big treasury. I will wake up the little webcamera tomorrow since i know some want to see me. *hugs* July 29 10:16 Me and little webmaster researched some things and while not webthings they could be useful for future. We figured out how to make a program send things over Internet. So that is one step closer towards my own chat thingy or whatever-else kind of thingy that needs to send things to and from places. July 27 18:00 Waked up in afternoon and little got done yesterday, but now is another day. I will however try to get to bed before midnight so i wake up in the morning tomorrow it is best to keep days in daytime and nights at night. July 26 19:14 By the way, i will probably use ICQ for chatting with my citizens for a start. This is most likely only temporary, and now i think some people wonder how and why and what will be used in the future... well, the Happy World has in its plans for the future its very own multi purpose 'client' thingy. It could possibly include chat, webcam, games, cookies, duties, various alerts and such. Alerts? Well, when the Princess rings her little silver bell for service someone better be listening! So many fun old ideas i had for such a long time... July 26 17:47 Me and little webmaster got so busy we were up most of the night. It wasnt planned but i had a big cup of tea, and then another... and then i couldnt sleep anyway. It is a little annoying to upset the sleepyhours again but at least things are getting done. Now another cup of tea because it feels like it should be morning, although my mind has already come up with another little idea as far as planning of webthings and such goes. Planning and doing things in order means i might not get much on homepage done today or so, but every big cup of tea gets me closer. And ofcourse the clever little Garfield helps a lot he is the bestest webmaster in the world. So he says anyway. I will feed both him and me and all the other hungry Garfields here in the castle lots of yummy lasagna when we can get to homepage webthings.
