Princess Tessy - The Princess Diary - March 2005
March 31 14:28 Something like this, would be sort of cool for my computer corner.
March 31 14:25 I gave Mr Bear some extra huggy hugs today and he let me order a second monitor, just because i like the one i got compared to the older one. And the computer i use, can actually have two monitors connected. Or the second can be used for the second computer, although that isnt used for much anyway. Maybe i soon end up with three monitors just like on that link i added some day earlier. One thing i like a lot more with the new lcd monitor, is that it has just about no reflections from windows or lamps or whatever that is behind me when i look at the screen. All light reflections are sort of very blurry and dont disturb the picture at all. Great! I assume there is some anti-reflection thing on lcd monitors, instead of the rather mirror-y glass that is on those big heavy crt monitors. Anyway this was a nice update to the computer corner so i may as well continue and give Mr Bear extra many hugs so he let me buy everything i want.
March 31 11:54 Mr Bear want me for company while he reads the morning newspaper. *hugs*
March 24 23:13 This is the most fun, and annoying, quest i started so far. Someone wants me to help with collections and since i finished my own collection quests i thought why not. So this person in the game wanted me to bring her a striped violet butterfly, those are found in a forest outside the Qeynos city. So after maybe an hour of running around searching for glowing ? in the forest i found one. I brought it to the collector, and she said it had crooked stripes and she wanted a new one with perfect stripes... eep! So i went back to the forest where butterflies can be found and after maybe another hour of running around i found another one, apparently that one was fine. But then she noticed that her spotted yellow butterfly had a folded wing tip so she wanted one to replace that. Oh my... i went back to the forest knowing very well that the spotted butterflies are the rarest to find. I think i have spent over two hours (!) running around in the forest now until i finally found what i need. I hope this is the end of that quest because it has taken a lot of time already. But at least i got sort of a laugh when i talked to the in-game person who gave me that quest. If this wasnt fun i wouldnt do it. Anyways now i have loooots of buttterflies, i will sell them to other players.
March 24 17:01 New monitor seems to be fine, but one thing noticeable is the viewing angle thing wich really isnt wide. Well, one can see the screen but the colours change a bit if one looks at the image from even slightly outside the center of the screen. Anyway these type of monitors seem to be kinder to the eyes since it isnt the same refreshing technology at all. And it looks nicer too, i wonder why i didnt get one of these earlier i probably should have. Anyways the little Garield webmaster and also Mr Bear thinks we should keep up to date at least a little with computer thingys. Anyway i will probably play that forever-questing game today aswell, i just managed to get past the top 1000 spot for most completed quests. Its a lot more fun than earning a lot of moneys to get to that top 100 list. Now i also paid for the vampires bloodlines adventure expansion so sometime later i can try to be brave with that. Anyways i will just be home and try to have a nice day once again...
March 23 13:12 It seems the new monitor arrives today, i hope its a good one i sort of guessed that the latest model of lcd monitor should be one of the best available. Actually i also read and was reminded lately, that those flat lcd monitors are like the older big monitors and tvs. Because lcd dont need to reresh unless a pixel needs a change. And so... that means there should be no visible flickering even at 60 Hz update rate, well unless it is a game or a movie on the monitor/tv and the many little lcd points cant keep up with the updates. Anyway i hope the one i got also has only one or preferrably no pixel faults. There is some sort of standard for that, wich allows up to a few (depends on brand) faulty pixels. Dark pixels i wouldnt worry about too much maybe, but i read Samsung allows only one bight pixel so if i happen to get two it has to go back and get replaced. Wich would be annoying... Some serious brand and model series i read has a 0 faulty pixel policy too, i will probably look for that in a future screen update now that i know about those things. Anyway i read, and watched some video clips, from a yearly ball in Germany wich seems like fun. It is a summer event i will add a link sometime so you can see. But what i saw that dissapointed me quite a bit was... everyone wore historical clothes, but one woman had sunglasses with that. It looked so out of place i almost laughed. Wonder if she ever heard of a hat, or a bonnet, or why not a parasol. Sunglasses at a historical ball... *hmpf*
March 22 11:19 Oh, guess i slept away half the day. Probably because i was up late, and the hugbears didnt want to wake me up even if they did wake up early in the morning. But when they saw my eyes open i got some nice good morning hugs. Nicest way to wake up. Dont know what to do today really. Oh... not again. Just as i was writing here the keyboard switch thingy locked up again. It does that randomly. So i have to walk outside the room and switch computers four times back to control the one i use. Normally i switch between the two brainys i have with keyboard buttons but ofcourse that doesnt work when that thing locks up everything... I am almost thinking to tell the manufacturers this is a bugged product and i dont want it anymore. Sometimes a randomly locked keyboard and mouse can cause really annoying things. And i didnt read anywhere i have to put up with random malfunctions...
March 21 22:08 The new adventure isnt for me yet, i read it is made for adventurers level 30-45 and i am at level 27 now so... i better wait with the vampire slaying a bit. Anyway i couldnt even find where to buy the adventure pack and download it, and unless i find it i guess i wont be doing that adventure anyways. Nothing interesting in the tv this evening so i may as well play the game.
March 21 14:17 I decided to try and be brave, if it is too scary or dangerous i can always stop the bravery and run away as fast as possible. As a Slayer of Undead i cant really ignore the existence of vampires and such creepy creatures. Then have to get slayed, and since Buffy isnt around i will have to do it myself i guess.
March 21 11:50 One question for myself... i am now a Slayer of Undead, and there is now a first adventure pack to buy for Everquest 2 with vampires and such scary things. Question is, am i brave enough to give that a try or not. I dont know, i sort of want to be brave but same as in reality my game character may just not be skilled enough to take on too dangerous things. I am working on that though, my elven Princess in Everquest 2 will be one of the most powerful given some time. Simply because i dont settle for less. And also because i spend way too much time playing that game...
March 21 01:09 I did switch on the little webcamera today. But not for the homepage. I got lost in Everquest 2 again this evening and didnt feel like having virtual visitors snooping in my room so... another time. Hope everyone had a nice weekend. *hug*
March 19 19:55 Live picture will be back tomorrow, promise. It will only be a view of the computer corner but i sit there a lot doing this or that so why not. I just got reminded about that when i saw the new little webcamera lying around, it hasnt been used much at all yet except some testing...
March 19 18:44 Dont really know what to do with this evening, but perhaps Mr Bear has an idea. *hug*
March 18 11:47 Today i think is a good day to reach another goal in that huge EQ2 game. Since i am a Princess i am not much fond of 'titles' that everyone and their relative has. In that game one can get titles base on number of killed type of creatures. I really dont like undead, so i go hunt them when i can, and i want a Slayer of Undead title, because that is what i am sometimes. The thing is, 500 killed undead (or orcs, goblins, elementals and other creature types) gives a Hunter of Undead title. Ok, so there are many who want that title and i sometimes saw 4-5 people around me with the same title. No fun. I cant have my Princess title in the game so i will begin with a Slayer title, but that requires 5000 undead to die. So it takes quite a few hours to do that. Yesterday i started by hunting skeletons in an old cemetery, i figured out that by being quick taking care of the creeps, i can slay close to 500 undead per hour. That is fast isnt it. But even that number means i probably have 3-4 hours left of undead hunting to do... all that just to get a more unique title, in a game. Guess i am silly. Anyway there is also a Destroyer of whatever title, that requires 10000 of one type creature to be killed... with my optimistic maximum quick undead killing calculation 5000 more takes at least 10 more hours of hunting in a boring graveyard. Not this time, maybe later. Or not. There is actually a Treasure Hunter title wich i want also, but that requires lots of long quests to be done so guess i am no treasure hunter yet for a month or so. I will be writing on webthings too the next few days also.
March 17 12:47 If you live in Sweden and feel like trying out the same monitor me and the hugfriends ordered today, click the link it goes to where we got it from.
March 16 13:06 Me and the little webmaster looked for a holding thingy to put two of those flat monitors on one foot instead of two. I saw them on those multi-monitor websites so i know they exist. Actually there are more companies selling similar solutions as the link i added below, i happened to find those from the EQ2 forum, there are some pretty serious addicts there. I read quite a lot of people who actually buy a brand new high end computer just to play Everquest 2 with as good graphics and performance as possible. Similar with other games, but anyways... i found a holder for two monitors with one food, but guess what? It costs more than one of the monitors! I guess those things dont sell in quantity but come on... i dont think Mr Bear will say that is an economic thing to buy. But we will see later, when i get an idea for something i want that can also be useful i usually dont have to care too much about costs. Not sure i even want two monitors that is why i will get one first. Maybe i dont even like that one and put back the older non-lcd bigger heavy thing, as far as i see its most important to have as good of a picture for the eyes as possible. Design is sort of second in order of importance.
March 16 10:46 What i originally thought to write about today was that i beginned doing quests in Everquest 2 yesterday. I may have leveled past the beginning areas, but still it is fun to have a purpose for doing things. Like going to kill some easy insects, to feed a froglok in the home area where my inn room is. Or going to hunt bats in a cave, because someone wanted bleached pelts from them. Makes for a purpose going after the creatures in that world, and besides i just got the idea to try and become one of the 'most finished quests' persons, but that will have to be when i find time. Today i wont be gaming much, other things to do here.
March 16 10:42 Me and hugbears happened to see some strange tv program yesterday, well we didnt watch much of it because it was just... disgusting! Apparently it was two women who were supposed to go and clean up in dirty homes. So one might think they went to some non-caring single guy with pizza boxes all over the home or so? Nope. What i saw was they went to some girls home, and it was like... if i would enter such a home, i would have to turn around and leave. There were things everywhere, and there was cat poops and vomit all over the floor, and even in the BED... moldy food in the fridge and god knows what else they found that i just didnt feel like knowing about. How could she live there, i just dont get it. Luckily me and hugfriends live in a neat and clean castle.
March 15 16:46 On another note, while searching for this and that about lcd monitors, i read Samsung has just made an 82 inch lcd tv. That is big, maybe Mr Bear want one of those... i have to show him sometime.
March 15 16:26 It was so cold in the morning, me and both hugbears agreed to stay in bed a long time and keep each other warm. Now we have a nice day inside with scented candle burning and lots of nice hugs. It is sunny outside now though and temperature isnt as freeeezing as it apparently was in the night and early morning. Anyway i will be staying home mostly today. We agreed yesterday to not bother with a laptop computer, we will try one of the new fast Samsung flat monitors instead. I realised there will be both picture and power cable needing to go to sofa table if i sometimes want to keep monitor and keyboard and mousie there, but i think that can be done somewhat neatly when needed. Maybe later i get a portable computer, but before i do that i will make sure my second computer gets useful use somewhere else. I just cant let myself have three computer brains around it is just one too many.... The second computer ofcourse isnt used much anyway. Oh well, i read about those flat monitors and as i knew it is a lot to try and learn when buying one or another. The fast updating ones have smaller viewing angles and probably also less good colours and such sometimes. But still i just used my calculator and realise i wouldnt want one with 20ms lcd panel as that gives max refresh rate of 50Hz. Wich is same as european television (US has 60Hz i believe) but my monitor now is set to 72 or 75Hz because 60 somehow can be seen as not fast enough. But then any good 12ms or 8ms flat monitor lcd should be ok. The one we found, wich isnt available in Sweden yet but should be tomorrow, is Samsungs new 19 inch 8ms monitor, it has 170 degree viewing angle wich seems better than some other with similar update speed. And i read some review with 3 monitors specified at 8ms response time and since all 3 actually use Samsungs lcd panel (!) they are almost identical in tests. Blabedibla... well i like Discovery channel tv and i sometimes like to learn about the newest computer things. My idea is, that if my eyes like the new monitor, i might get a second one because there can be two connected to the primary computer brainy here. For those who didnt get my note about using flat monitors as wallpaper... try the link. But things like that are ofcourse a bit silly to bother with at home, at least not more than two monitors. But then again, the three monitor system i saw there running some flight simulator seems like a neat solution so sometimes lots of monitor space can be sensible.
March 14 14:02 Me and Mr Bear and the little Garfield webmaster are today trying to agree what would be best of these two things. Buying a laptop computer, or buying a quality flat monitor. We found a laptop computer with useful performance (512mb memory is a must, and long battery life) it costs almost 2000$ and we would have to find some little thingy to get a wireless network in the little castle too. Good with that, is i can take that little computer with me anywhere i want. But Mr Bear and me and even the geeky webmaster thinks it is a bit silly to buy a third computer brainy... so the other idea, wich is only somewhat portable in my room, is a new big easy to movearound monitor. Well it would be a 19 inch monitor, because looking at bigger monitors that most people dont byt the prices do skyrocket. The best designed 19 inch costs under 1000$ the Sony monitor i looked at long ago. But perhaps that isnt the best anymore computer technology advances so quickly nobody can stay updated... Anyway it would be easy to move a monitor from computer corner to sofa table if i want sometimes. Much nicer to sit there and chat or write something or just look at webpages and whatever. Still it could be nice to have a completely moveable computer brainy, except i dont like laptop keyboards much and the monitors are small. But well there is a connector for a monitor too. But anyway i dont know... i guess in the end Mr Bear will get the most to say about the choice since he keeps order in the Happy World economy. *hug* It doesnt matter what we decide really, but i will never loose my sense for being economic mostly. Sometimes i like to just throw moneys on something fun or pretty or useless, but most days i dont. So i am quite a sensible Princess i dont get everything i want. Or i could just buy a laptop and ten flat monitors and use as wallpaper but... that would be a waste. So i wont. I just got one email that may save the Happy World from getting too dusty, you all should know that if nobody cares about the smiles and hugs and their Princess, it will all fade away... at least today i found some motivation.
March 10 12:46 I just got a useful idea to try and make everyone more or less happy with all the photo/video clip things that i know some people want to see. So i will try to get that and also diary commenting and other little things made for Citizens before this month is over. And that is all to write for now, i will actually add a new photo today for those who love me, and since i know everyone loves their Princess so much i expect a lot of positive photo comments. *hug*
March 06 19:03 This evening the popular Discovery Channel tv (at least it is popular with me and hugbears) will have programs from some unique hotels in the world. First from the Ice Hotel somewhere in north Sweden, that one is built from ice every winter how unique is that? Quite a lot. And then a program about the super-luxury hotel outside Dubai, Burj Al Arab i just had another look at the webpages and well... yes that hotel is nice enough for me to stay at. One interesting little bit i noticed when actually looking at room rates (starting at 1000$ per suite so you know...) is when booking they have a really long list with titles. They dont miss anything, any arab Prince or Duchess from the UK or Lord and Lady from anywhere can make sure the hotel knows their title. Ofcourse i would then be welcomed as 'H.R.H Princess'... Anyway then there is some program about Hotel Atlantis i think that is on Barbados and i bet that is a very nice place to stay too. The ice hotel at least isnt so far away for me since its in my country, i might go there sometime. I might end up in the royal suite at Burj Al Arab too sometime, one never knows... I didnt know what to write about so this is what came up.
