Princess Tessy - The Princess Diary - September 2006

September 30 19:24
So for those who want to try Everquest 2, my new trial character is a Mystic with the name Ilumi, on Befallen server. I picked that class because i havent played it yet, it is a healer type but they are different from druids or templars. I am actually also looking at a new multiplayer game, Vanguard Saga of Heroes. That isnt released yet, but what i like about it is advanced crafting (they recently simplified it a lot in EQ2 wich i think is stupid...) and also something new, diplomacy. I like that new idea, talking to people to be able to do some things rather than the usual use of weapons and so. I add a link later, it seems they pick beta testers for that new game from forum accounts so i will go register this weekend hoping to get a peek.
September 30 16:58
Today i decided to download the free trial for Everquest 2. The link goes to the pages for that. I already play that game and have done for soon two years a lot, but thought it could be fun to revisit the starting land again, perhaps with some happy citizens. *hugs* This too is a big download, but i dont think it is the whole game because the trial is only a smaller part of the huge world. I am not sure about this, but in November comes the third expansion and buying the game box it includes also the base game and the two earlier expansions for 40$, wich is a nice price compared to all us old players who paid that for each part. So even if you like the game and want to come play with me, it could be a good idea to be patient and wait to get the game box from a shop in middle of November. Downloading the expansion is only that expansion and not the base game even. And buying all the parts separately adds up to more than 40$ i am quite sure but i dont know costs. Well also it costs 15$ a month to play, but trying is free for a week so why not come. I will create my new trial character(s) on the Befallen server, if there is a choice, because that is the server i play on normally. I just remember when i went to the Test server a while ago, it was quite fun to sort of start over with nothing, no riches, no horse, no great skills, not even backpacks to keep what i found. It is somehow more fun that way, i guess more things to reach for at the start than after two years of playing. I am not interested in the 'raiding' part of these games, unless i would have 20 or more happy world citizens to lead into the worst dungeons and try win over the meanest monsters and dragons. So for me the things to reach for in the game are getting fewer, but starting from beginning is fun. So maybe see some of you there.
September 28 13:20
Hmm... i spent hours adventuring, managed to figure out how to learn tailoring, made a nice robe for my wizard and 6 more to sell. But when i got to the auction house place, and tried to sell my robes... trial accounts cant do that, says a red text that now made me think about ending the trial. Why? It cost me more to tailor the robes than i will get selling to whatever shops buy things. So not really any way to earn a few silver coins from my long quest to sew useful things. Boo. Besides that, i guess WoW is a bit similar to most other such games. I might play a bit more, but i sure wont bother to learn crafting things. Well i might for my own tiny use, but no point hunting kobolds (i think they were that anyway...) in a cave to get hold of linen, so i could make them into fabrcs, and then things to wear. Now i see Mr Bear want some hugs so no more game for me. *hugs*
September 27 15:14
Instead of playing some old game i might have somewhere, i went to try World of Warcraft this link goes to a page with a 10 day free trial. It is a huge download though, 2.84Gb says the download manager... for me apparently it will take 1 hour 45 minutes i may as well go do something else a while i guess. Anyway thought it could be fun to try another game like Everquest 2, but i dont plan to move and there is definitely not time to play two such games. But its free to try 10 days so why not? Click link if you too want to try it.
September 27 14:35
Hmm i didnt find simcity game, guess i snoop around Internet for some interesting game demo to play then.
September 27 14:08
I dont feel like doing anything serious today, i went snooping for new fun games to play and remembered my old favourite Sim City 4. So i am going to look in the cupboard with random computer thingys, cdroms and whatnot for that game. I also remembered another old game i bought and played a lot, not really my favourite type of game because they are all about shooting enemies. But since there are still no such games where one shoots smileys to tickle opponents instead of the usual deadly weapons and blood etc... anyway. I remembered old Far Cry wich i bought mainly because it looked really good with its jungle tropical world and so. But i found it was really fun single player to get to be the hero and sort of be part in an action movie. Next comes Crysis wich i looked a bit about and it looks to be even more good graphics wise, although same time i found there is some new DirectX 10 coming, and that is part of a new Windows too. So hmm... lets see, to play that coming game and once again get to be an action hero *giggle* i would maybe need, a new gaming computer, new windows, and the game. I am sure it will work with what i have too, but not with all the cool new immersive effects and such. I dont think that game is available anytime soon so time to ponder about upgrading computer things anyway. Today i will be more constructive and maybe build a city instead. If i can find the game.
September 27 12:29
No note yesterday, but me and the little Garfield webmaster are trying to get more than one webthing ready for weekend.
September 25 15:24
I just found a very nice skating skirt, wonder if some gentleman wants to buy it for me later. But even if i like being pampered its not really the first webpage that comes back. I showed the skirt to Mr Bear and he thought it would look great on me too. *hugs* Oh well... going to write a little to-do list for things to do, so i can do them one first then the next.
September 25 12:51
Oh by the way, between hugs i discussed with Mr Bear if we should renew the www.princess.nu web domain. We decided to not keep it, and as far as email from nunames said it will be released to buy in 14 days. For some silly reason .nu domains cost about 6 times more than .com .net or .org names and i dont see the point in paying. Price is 60 Euro for two years should be same for whoever around here might want to grab it. If a Princess who likes me buys it i will probably add links back again. Oh well, back to doing something... anything really, there is much to do.
September 25 10:10
Monday again and back to doing something creative.
September 21 18:33
Hmm its not working the way i want, so i forget video streaming for now. There was seconds of delay and just didnt appear much better than the old webcam 32 way, so i will use that instead should be working tomorrow. I do remember one thing about webcam 32, there is some weird simple bug, that they probably still have not fixed, that is tricky to solve and took me half a day or a whole to find a solution for. So i hope i can find that solution again, it was about errors in webcam32 image headers or some technical thing like it... Not so nice weather this evening but i think i will have to go get some of my new favourite candies.
September 20 19:36
Live camera testing will be tomorrow, i just dont feel like spending all evening in computer corner. Me and hugfriends prefer sharing hugs in our cozy sofa. Ofcourse we will do that tomorrow too, but then one of the little cameras might be snooping in that direction too.
September 18 21:32
I waked up early today, so i am sleepy already will not be the usual late evening probably. But i think i finished the computer program i wanted to do, at least the most important things that makes it do what it should. I will try and add some more clever time-saving things to it, but for now i am happy i managed to get it working. I will let my little program run another hour test while i go hug Mr Bear and Lady Bear a lot. *hughughug*
September 18 16:52
If you missed the live camera(s) lately, yes i know i havent bothered to use them for a long time... well, then make sure you are snooping around here on wednesday. I am not sure the video streaming way is the best, or if it works for everyone, but it is worth a try.
September 13 12:23
Just so all my happy Citizens dont think i am just being lazy doing nothing, because you see nothing happening. Earlier i searched and searched for a way to actually program my computer to do things for me, wich is what computers do really well if they are programmed without errors. I have a clever brain you see. I heard about C and Visual Basic but as far as i know none of those are free, and in fact they are a probably a bit too advanced for me anyway. At least for now i am not planning to try and program anything super complicated. So where does one find a free to start with, somewhat easy to learn, basic programming language? At the link for this note. Its called Liberty Basic. It may not be the programming language to use for very complicated things, but i think with some learning it can do something useful. So i am not just being lazy, i have to finish a little program, then i can resume homepage and other things around here. *hugs*
September 11 22:59
Me and Mr Bear are snooping at Penn and Teller funny tv show this evening, wich is a lot more fun than yesterdays main thing we saw. Yesterday was a rather long program about the twin tower attack, its not the kind of thing one wants to see instead of Simpsons or anything else more fun. But it was still our choice. Even if it made me remember how shocked i was that day, because i still remember that, it was a good time to share *hugs* and hope that kind of things dont happen again anywhere. I know it does, there is violence crimes and things happening here and there in the world all the time. But there is always hope, and hugs. *hug*
September 08 23:48
Mmm, bedtime for me and hugfriends. I have been thinking a lot about what to do or not with webthings and other things lately. I think me and hugfriends will be able to find answers this weekend.
September 06 14:26
Oh my... I heard it mentioned in tv news some time ago electricity got really pricey lately. Because of little rain in north Sweden, and we have lots of electricity coming from rivers. Today me and Mr Bear looked at the latest electricity cost for our little castle and it wasnt a nice surprise. Well there is nothing to do but pay, even if Mr Bear looks a little grumpy because of that bill. Maybe i should give him lots of hugs so he smiles again, and perhaps also stop playing computer game so much, and even worse leave computers on sometimes while i go do other things. I know at least computer brainy 1, wich is still quite a good gaming computer, uses a lot of electricity. I could read books instead, that does need light but its nice to have a lamp or two anyway so that shouldnt give Mr Bear big bills to get a little grumpy about. Not sure what to do with rest of today, but i will try not to use so much electricity... Trying to save on electric use is a good idea for environment also, nature needs all help it can get.
September 05 23:47
Me and hugfriends looked at the often interesting Discovery tv channel again. This evening we saw building a huge island in Dubai, wich was mostly about moving so much rocks and sand it was just... a lot. Then something less interesting about offshore oil rigs, was a good time to go eat something instead. The Brainiacs i have happened to see sometimes they can be fun. Not so interested in their blowing things up fun, but testing wich is the driest food in the world... hmm. I wouldnt want to find that out. But they tested, dry crackers didnt win but they sure looked really dry to eat with no drink or anything. Most dry and most difficult to eat for the poor brainiac that got to eat them was... dry noodles. I have seen those little packages in food shop, i actually bought a few long ago because they do look yummy the way they are photographed on packaging. But oh my those are just plain boring without vegetables and meat or something along them. I heard students often eat those noodles to be cheap but i sure wouldnt there are other things if one wants to eat at low cost. I think its time to move to bed now Mr Bear is already hiding under the blanket it looks so nice, it always looks to be most cozy where the hugfriends are. So when they move from out sofa back to bed, i want to go to bed also.
September 05 20:58
I dont know why, but today i snooped in the junk mail folder. I had one of those online bank scam ones for a swedish bank, wich ofcourse is just random junk i dont even have an account in that bank... but it sure was a bit fun to read. I sure wouldnt fall for those attempts, but if that other swedish bank does have unsafe login ways it could be really bad for those that might get tricked. So just a reminder, the same reminder many money-handling websites send to customers or write somewhere hopefully everyone reads... banks, eBay, Paypal and such sites will never ask you to login for any reason. If you ever get an email from whatever online bank you might have, dont ever click on any link in the email. Go login the normal way, and you will be safe(r). Its actually a bit scary how Internet and all the data floating around can and is used and abused sometimes. But i cant deny it is convenient taking care of most things from computer corner.
September 05 13:18
Monday when most people start working yet another week, i ended up doing nothing much at all. But today i actually have done something serious for once. *giggle* I better try to keep the energy up, it would be unusual but great if i could stay focused on webthings and such for a whole week.
September 02 17:12
I did find a summary online about the documentary i saw lately, will add a link to it when homepage has the link page put back. Maybe i resume webthings a bit today, the only thing planned for rest of today is watching seasons first episode of a very funny comedy series i always watched earlier unless i happened to miss it. If i can find some non-microwave popcorns i think that will be the best half hour today, hugs and popcorns and smiles. Just now i will go share some nice *hugs* with Mr Bear before i dive into a nice bubbly bath.
September 01 19:27
Oh no... Me and Mr Bear fell asleep on the cozy sofa, and when i waked up a bit wich i did now and then, Mr Bear fell to the floor. I am so careful to not allow that to happen, this really is the first time it ever did happen. I just feel bad about it, but Mr Bear didnt even wake up so i helped him up and then we were lazy more time. But rest of time i made sure to hold my hugfriend towards the safe side of sofa, not that I want to fall out of it but that has never happened and i dont think it will. Mr Bear has to be safe from any falling out of bed or cozy sofa, we both think that way about Lady Bear too. In our bed Mr Bear sometimes get to sleep away from the wall to keep his ladies safe and happy on the wall side, he likes to do that and we like it too. I always sleep near the wall then, and Mr Bear has the blanket around him so he is quite safe from any accidental falling-out-of-bed susprises. I was about to write a note about how we like to watch the Discovery tv channel, because it has this and that and often interesting things to learn about. We lately saw a program about some amaingly clever people with brains that could remember and calculate maths and so way way better than normal people. But the latest tv program we saw wasnt there it was on swedish tv about environment things, and it was quite scary because it is likely to be an outlook into future. It was about global warning and global dimming. I bet most people know about global warming, greenhouse gasses, and how that warms up our planet. Well, there is global dimming also, wich cools our planet. What scientists havent figured out until recently, is that the dimming has a big effect on world temperatures. So much in fact, the temperature increase likely to happen in future is twice the old calculations. And that is baaaaaad. A bad scenario is polar ice could melt in a few decades, when waters get warmed up too, they release so much methane gasses from sea floor it doubles or more the green house effect. That essentially means, its over. When the ice caps start melting, there is no way to stop it. The global temperature increase curve for year 2100 was doubled from 5 to 10C because of new research, and what does that mean so we can understand it... oh it doesnt mean nice warm weather. Its really really bad, UK wich is near my country gets desert-like climate. And that is after getting coasts drowned by a global 7-8 meter sea level increase. Previous warm areas end up impossible to live in. It is just a horrible outlook on the future. The effects of global dimming and its cooling effect is noticed lately, after the known 'September 11 3 day' study, but more from two year research at north and south Maldive islands. Clean air from antarctic, versus polluted air from India. Also the much cleaning of visible particles from cars and industry in Europe lately is making the dimming effect noticeable. Yes, we get cleaner air wich is great and a must. But it showed how african monsoon rains sort of moved its area of rain during these last 20 years too. For now that is all getting better, but think about Europes soot pollution affecting the rainy seasons in Africa... makes one realise we all live on the same planet. They had horrible dry years, but now they get better rain again. And its much because of less pollution from EU countries. Anyway... after the horrible starvation of millions of people in Africa some year in the 80's i dont remember exactly wich, now the huge worry is about... Asia. Because they too need their rainy periods, and unlike the earlier affected African countries there are not just millions living in the area scientists worry about. There is about half the earths population. Its not even possible to think about how bad things can get if there are 10 dry years around where 2 billion people have to live and grow their food too. Its one of those huge things we little people wont be able to deal with. So as they said towards end of tv program, we really are in a pinch to not destroy our own planet. I mean like this... what if, wich we do work on lately, US and China and other big polluters clean up their industry and car soot pollution too. Great, we get cleaner air to breathe. But what if such an action reduces global dimming so much, the polar ices start melting away really fast. That would show us who is the boss around here, its mother nature nobody think anything else. Basicly we need to seriously reduce or completely stop green house gas release, soon, or things will end up not just as bad as anticipated... but twice as bad. I will try to find links to this research, because just like the Hubbert peak its a huge thing that will affect the future of all our lives. Best to end this gloomy note with a and a big *hug* and another its just that i care about these things, even if they are not so positive to write about for now. Maybe the world wakes up in 5 years or 10, or 20, before its just too late to do anything.
